Fleischack Collection

Albert (A R) Fleischack opened the firm of attorneys, Fleischack and associates, in 1883. The firm was the city council's attorneys from 1908 to 1987 and was taken over by Muller, Schoeman and Meyer as equal partners after the retirement of Gilbert Fleischack.

The content of the collection consists mainly of:

  • Letter Books.
  • Personal documents of Albert Fleischack.
  • Correspondence of societies, churches and schools in Potchefstroom.
  • Title deeds of farms, stands and houses in Potchefstroom and surroundings since 1896.
  • Mortage deeds, leases, sales and marriage contracts.
  • Testaments and estates.
  • Court cases: civil and criminal.
  • Water court cases.
  • Correspondence with i.a. M W Pretorius, S J P Kruger, M Ghandhi and F W Reitz.
  • Information of philatelic interest as investigated by Prof. O de Jager.
  • Information about the Goetz family.
  • Information about farms and businesses near Venterskroon in the Vredefort dome.
